ABOUT THE COVER ART
The cover art for the Issue 2 of Five on the Fifth was created by Mary Stephens.
The piece is titled, "St. John's Bridge", for the actual Gothic style suspension bridge built in 1931 that still spans the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.
This print was based on an original photo by the artist and involved employing tools such as an exact-o knife, several layers of matte medium on copy paper, black ink, and a gelatin printing plate. When it comes to artwork, Mary Stephens has a passion for unconventional experimental techniques. She actively produces multimedia art pieces inspired by nature and the city of Portland.
Mary is a Portland native, as well as a self-taught artist, graphic designer, and photographer.
